Background: Bad lifestyle changes are now tends to cause high energy intake and low physical activity. That lifestyle can trigger some diseases which affects to the lower quality of life. Body fat as a result of an imbalance between intake and energy use can cause waist-hip ratio up to normal and may lead to coronary heart disease.
Objectives: This study research aims to determine energy intake and physical activity as well as the ratio of waist-hip circumference at the Civil Servants of Health Nutrition Department of Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar.
Methods: This research is a descriptive cross sectional study. The samples are Civil Servants Nutrition Department of Health Nutrition Department of Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar with the total is 26 people taken by purposive sampling. Energy intake obtained through recall 2×24 hours and then processed using software nutrisurvey 2004. Physical activity was obtained using the WHO questionnaire. The ratio of waist-hip circumference were measured using a tape of measure and determined using the ratio of waist-hip index. All data were analyzed using SPSS 13. The data are presented in list of table and narration.
Results: There are two types of physical indicator activity, they are weight and duration of physical activity. The results of this research tells us that low energy intake by light in weight of physical activity (69.2%) and the duration of physical activity is good (92.3%) and have a normal waist-hip circumference ratio (88.5%). The mean score of light in weight physical activity with a normal waist-hip circumference ratio (69.2%) and duration of good physical activity with normal waist-hip circumference ratio (84.6%).
Suggestion: Suggested to the further researchers to use weighing method to measure the level of food intake so that to obtain the measurement results more efficiently.
