Background: Overweight is a new problem that arises in certain segments of society, and not only among adults but for elementary school children can also experience it. Risk factors that may cause the primary school children were overweight ie diet, physical activity.
Objectives: to describe the physical activity and diet with the incidence of overweight in children Katolik Primary School, Frather Bakti Luhur Makassar.
Methods: survey with cross sectional approach. Samples were students of class IV and V which amounts to 162 people were selected by simple random. Nutritional status was obtained through weighing and height are then processed in the WHO Antro Plus. Obtained through the diet Quesionary Food Frequency (FFQ) which is then processed by summing the scores for each item were then compared with the foodstuff an average score of total score of all subjects. Physical activity was obtained through physical activity format which is then processed by way of calculating the duration and type of physical activity using the formula of physical activity levels. The data presented in the form of frequency distributions and narrative.
Result: incidence of overweight subjects were 71.6% and 28.4% overweight not overweight. A diet high at 42.6% and 57.4% lower. Physical activity by 84.6% and 13.0% very mild mild. The results of the identification of physical activity with incidence of overweight are generally very mild ie 24.1%. The results of the identification of the diet is generally low incidence of overweight is 16.7%
Conclusions: The number of children with very mild physical activity is expected to be a concern for teachers and parents to further improve physical activity in children by implementing exercise habits and lead children to better suit the needs of children consume food.
