Background: Secondary school is the age at which the child is a teenager and has begun to experience a variety of changes in both physical and behavioral, diet, lifestyle and the environment that can make children more familiar with a variety of activities, both in school and outside school.
Objective: This study aims to describe the energy and protein intake and nutritional status of SMP 35 students of class VII underprivileged Biringkanaya District of Makassar..
Methods: Peneliian This is a descriptive study. The sample is a class VII student who was 60 and the total sampling method. Intake of nutrients obtained through food recall 2 x 24 hours in which data on energy and protein intake is processed using a computer software program that is nutritional Nutrisurvey 2004 and data on nutritional status are processed using a computer program software WHO nutritional anthropologist. Overview of the variables identified through test Descriptive Statistics. The data presented in table form and narrative.
Results: The results showed that sufficient levels of energy intake as much as 23.3% and 76.7% less good. Sufficient levels of both proteins as much as 36.7% and 63.3% less. Nutritional status as much as 1.7% fat, 73.3% of normal, underweight 16.7% and 8.3% are very slim.
Conclusion: In general, most of the samples had good nutritional status, but has the energy and protein intake is less.
Suggestion: For health authorities should be advised to do counseling on healthy and nutritious snacks for students while the school should provide a healthy canteen is always controlled.
