Background: Good nutrient intake will acquire good nutritional status resulting in better quality of life as well. Elderly who generally suffer from malnutrition will have a system response and a low immune function. If the immune function can be improved, the quality of life can be increased so that the healthy elderly, independent and efficient.
Objectives: To describe protein, micronutrients, nutritional status and quality of life of elderly (Elderly) Tupabbiring Village district. Bontoa Kab. Maros South Sulawesi.
Methods: This study is a descriptive. Samples are elderly aged 60-69 years who are 39 people chosen by purposive sampling. Nutrient intake obtained through recall 2×24 hours later processed using software nutrisurvey. Nutritional status was obtained through anthropometric measurements are body weight (BW) by using digital scales and high-knee (TL) using knee height measuring instrument, the results of the measurements are converted into TL height (TB) and expressed in IMT. Quality of life was obtained through interviews of WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire is then processed using a standard formula WHO. Data is presented in a frequency distribution table and narrative
Results: The results showed that the intake of protein sample is 43.6% and 56.4% less good. Intake of vitamin A, amounted to 74.4% and 25.6% less good. Intake of vitamin B6, 79.5% and 20.5% less good. The intake of folic acid, at 97.4% and 2.6% less good. Zinc intake, by 97.4% and 2.6% less good. Calcium intake, by 97.4% and 2.6% less good. Nutritional status of a sample of 41.0% of malnutrition, 53.8% normal nutrition and 5.1% of more nutrition. The average quality of life of the sample in both categories.
Conclusions: Nutrient intake samples, that is both protein and vitamin B12. Average nutritional status of the sample is normal nutrition. Quality of life of the sample, the average in each domain is good.
