Background: Indonesia experienced two nutritional problems, namely malnutrition and overnutrition, which both have a negative impact. Nutritional deficiencies and excess arises because nutrition is not in accordance with the requirements. Good nutritional status will be achieved if adequate food intake.
Objective: This study aims to describe the macro nutrient intake and nutritional status of children Pajjaiyang Village Elementary Instruction District of Biringkanaya Sudiang Kingdom of Makassar.
Methods: This study is a descriptive survey. Samples were elementary school children Pajjaiyang Instruction grade 3 and 4 as many as 41 people were selected by purposive sampling. Data on macro nutrient intake was collected by the method of 1 x 24-hour recall. Nutritional status assessment conducted by the anthropometric measurement of weight, height and determine the age.
Results: The results showed that the intake of carbohydrates good sample of 9.8%, 12.2% and 78.0% less enough. Intake of protein, 34.1% good, 26.8% and 39.0% less enough. Fat intake, by 2.4% and 97.6% less enough. Nutritional status of a sample of 14.6% fat, 73.2% normal, 9.8% and 2.4% underweight very thin.
Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is generally less macro nutrient intake, especially fat intake while the nutritional status of children in general normal
Suggestion: It is suggested the need for more intensive attention from the parents to pay more attention to their food intake to intake requirements needed by the child fulfilled.
