Background : Nutritional status is the level of one’s nutritional state, expressed as a result of the intake of nutrients and their use in the body. The level of knowledge and income mother an indirect influence whether the poor nutritional status of infants because these two variables affect maternal food intake. The higher the level of knowledge of a mother, the more cleaver also choose foods that are good for their health so that they can produce good milk for her baby. Similarly with income levels. The higher the level of family income, the more varied the food is also able to be consumed.
Objective : This study aims to describe the level of knowledge, family income postpartum mother and infant nutritional status in the territory of the District Biringkanaya Sudiang Raya Makassar.
Methods : This research is descriptive research with a total sample of 96 respondents selected by purposive sampling. Knoeledge mother and family income obtained by questionnaire interviews while the nutritional status data obtained by anthropometric measurements. Data are presented in tabular form distribution, frequency and narration.
Results : The results showed that the level of knowledge of mothers about breastfeeding in infants ages 0-2 months in the area of highway districts Sudiang Biringkanaya city of Makassar mostly classified as less (54.2%) and family income levels in the postpartum mother postpartum in the highway Sudiang Biringkanaya city districts Makassar mostly good (61.5%) as well as the nutritional status of infants aged 0-2 months in the area of highway districts Sudiang Biringkanaya city of Makassar according to an index (body weight / age) are mostly good (89.6%), according to the length of the index (body length / age) mostly normal (68.8%) and according to the index (body weight / body length) normal majority (60.4%).
