HUBUNGAN PENDIDIKAN, PENGETAHUAN DAN PEKERJAAN IBU DENGAN PEMBERIAN MP-ASI DINI DI DESA BONTO MARANNU

Abstract

Background: Good feeding practices and the right is essential for survival, growth and development, as well as health and nutrition for infants.

Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship of education, knowledge, and work with the mother giving complementary feeding early in Bonto Marannu, Moncongloe District, Maros.

Methods: This research is analytic. The sample is a mother who has children aged 6-24 months, amounting to 42 people were selected by sampling purposive. Primary data were collected through direct interviews using questionnaires and the data was processed using SPSS computer program then the data level of knowledge, education and maternal employment that provides complementary feeding early compared with those not providing early complementary feeding. Relationships between unknown variables through the chi square test.

Results: The results showed that highly educated mothers are 50% which gives an early complementary feeding and the 50% who do not provide the same early complementary feeding by mothers with low education is 50%, which gives an early complementary feeding and the 50% who do not give MP -ASI early. Mothers who have a good knowledge about complementary feeding are 44.8% which gives an early complementary feeding and 55.2% who did not give an early complementary feeding while mothers who have less knowledge there is 61.5%, which gives an early complementary feeding and 38.5 which does not give an early complementary feeding, and for mothers who work in the home there is 52.9% which gives an early complementary feeding and 47.1% who did not give an early complementary feeding while mothers work outside the home are 37,5% which gives an early complementary feeding and 62.5% who do not give complementary feeding early. The results of statistical tests between the variables of education, knowledge, and work with the administration of early complementary feeding showed that there was no meaningful relationship.

Suggestion: It is recommended that health workers give a deeper understanding to the mother in Complementary feeding (MP-ASI) for infants and retain knowledge about complementary feeding mothers.
