Backgrounds: The food is a human need , God has been explained in the Qur’an that we are required to eat kosher food and Thayyib .Hawker food is the food and drinks prepared and sold by street vendors in the streets and in public crowded places other directly eaten or consumed without further processing or preparation.
Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship of street food consumption patterns and nutritional status and cholesterol levels in primary school children Ikip I Makassar.
Methods: This research is analytic survey with quantitative research design and cross sectional study design was used. The population in this study were all students and grade IV, V, VI Public Elementary School Ikip I Makassar, amounting to 284. The number of samples is 143 people by using the questionnaire, food frequency form, Seca Weight Scale to measure weight, Easy Touch for check cholesterol levels and mikrotoise to measure height.
Results: The results of this study indicate that there is no relationship type eating snacks with nutritional status. The p-value = 0.876 greater than ɑ = 0.05 means that Ha Ho is rejected and accepted. no relationship Frequency of eating snacks with nutritional status. The p-value = 0.755 greater than ɑ = 0.05. No relationship hawker food consumption patterns and nutritional status. p-value = 0.828 greater than ɑ = 0.05. And no association with the type of meal snacks cholesterol levels. The p-value = 0.129 greater than ɑ = 0.05. no relationship Frequency of eating snacks with cholesterol levels. The p-value = 0.196 greater than ɑ = 0.05. no relationship with the street food consumption patterns cholesterol levels. The p-value = 0.022 less than ɑ = 0.05 means that Ha Ho accepted and rejected.
Conclusions: Based on the results of the research relationship hawker food consumption patterns and nutritional status and cholesterol levels, as for the implications that can be given is recommended that the teacher can provide guidance to the students about the selection of snacks sold in school canteens and other food vendors sold around the school. Looking at the results of this study, parents are expected to be intensified in monitoring the consumption pattern anaknya.Diharapkan snacks can be information for further research activities, as well as a reference for the development of science that always educational institutions.
