KEJADIAN OBESITAS PADA MAHASISWI JURUSAN GIZI POLTEKKES KEMENKES MAKASSAR

Abstract

Background: Obesity is already a problem the world epidemic, with more than 1 billion adults overweight. Some causes of the increasing ratio increased waist circumference and hip circumference above normal is the excessive intake of nutrients (protein, fat, carbohydrates), low physical activity.

Objective: This research aims to obtain information about the incidence of obesity (case study) on the Student majoring in Nutrition Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar.

Methods: This research is a survey research with qualitative approach. Informants in this study is the Student majoring in Nutrition Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar. Technique selection of informants with the snowball method (snowball). The amount of food, feeding frequency, meal type, how to eat, meal times, appetite and food preferences are collected by means of in-depth interviews as well as using tape recorders recording devices. Waist circumference and hip circumference is collected by How to use measurement tools measure meter of fabric. Processing and data analysis using the method of analysis of conten. This research was conducted with four stages of the analysis of emic, ethics, concepts and preposition.

Result: The results showed that the amount of food consumed by the informant is food eaten does not correspond to its needs. So the number of calories in food is very high. Types of food commonly consumed by the informant is that at every meal time consuming food containing high fat. The frequency of eating the informant is often consuming foods that contain high calorie snacks in the form of causing obesity. The eating habits of the informant is irregular, heavy meal and informant interlude liking if they wish to eat. The informant’s opinion about food preferences is the informant is very fond of foods high in fat and high in sugar. The ratio of waist circumference measurement of the pelvis has been done in the four informants obtained results i.e. RM (0.82), MR (0.84), RN (0.81) and AH (0.81). As it is said that for women considered at high risk if more than 0.80.

Suggestion: It is recommended to consume food to student in accordance with the needs of its nutrition value and pay more attention to diets.
