Background: One of the indirect causes of malnutrition in children under five is caring practices (UNICEF, 1990). On the other hand, research on parenting has been more focused on the interaction between children and caregivers are realized in the form of feeding, education, how to instill discipline, independence and socialization processes (Engel et al. 1997). Research on parenting styles applied by caregivers still received less attention.
Objective: To determine the parenting style in children aged 6-24 months in the coastal families in Maros regency, which is held at Hamlet Village Kuri Lompo Nisombalia Maros in 2013.
Methods: A cross-sectional design. Samples were mothers of infants aged 6-24 months as many as 17 people.
Results: The results showed that the majority (82.4%) mothers parenting style is democratic.
Suggestion: This study suggests that more research is needed with the number of samples and a wider location to assess the strength of the relationship between the two variables
