Background: Iron deficiency anemia is one of the most common disorders that occur during pregnancy. Pregnant women commonly experience iron depletion so it just give a little iron to the fetus needed for normal iron metabolism. In order to overcoming the problems, it has done a program providing iron tablet. Knowledge is the most dominant factor affecting maternal adherence to consume iron tablet, especially with regard to benefits and impacts that my occur when pregnant women suffer from anemia iron.
Objective: This study aims to describe pregnant women knowledge about anemia and iron tablet consumption compliance in the District of Biringkanaya Makassar City.
Mhetods: The research is a descriptive research. The sample in this study were pregnant women with a number of 60 people. Data on pregnant women and knowledge about anemia collected by way questionnaire interviews.
Result: Pregnant women knowledge about anemia mostly good 80% and iron tablets consumption adherence mostly less than 56,7%. As for pregnant women less knowledge and less than 66,7% compliance while pregnant women whose knowledge is good but compliance is less by 54,2%.
Sugesstion: Expected to puskesmas officers to be able to provide counseling and health education to the community, especially pregnant women about the importance of anemia and iron tablets regulary.
