Background: Nutritional problems faced by Indonesia more complete with the presence of multiple nutritional problems. The success of a nation’s development is influenced by the quality of human resources. School children is one of the groups vulnerable to malnutrition because of inadequate intake.
Objective: This study aims to describe the diet and nutritional status in children SDN Binanga Sangkara Instruction 203 in the Village District of Bontoa Kababupaten Ampekale Maros.
Methods: This study is a descriptive study. Samples were schoolchildren class II to class V, amounting to 31 203 people at SDN Instruction Binanga Sangkara Ampekale Village district. Bontoa Kab. Maros were selected by purposive sampling. Data on diet diproleh using interviews of a sample of the questionnaire instrument FFQ (Food Frequency). Assessment of nutritional status was done manually with the anthropometric measurement of weight and height.
Results: The results of 31 samples showed that the diet according to the frequency of eating good 61.3%, 38.7% less. Diet according to the type of food either 32.3%, 67.7% less. Nutritional status based on BMI index /U 80.6% of normal nutritional status, 9.7% fat, 9.7% underweight.
Conclusion:: Order status of children nutrition and diet to be indonesian school produces the better human resources and quality problems getting reduced nutrition in indonesia.
Suggestion: It is suggested to the school and local health authorities to provide education about the importance of eating nutritious foods, especially about balanced nutrition.
