Background: Nutritional problem is influenced from by many factors. One of the causes malnutrition in children is error in complementary feeding practices (MP-ASI).
Objective: This study aims to describe the provision of complementary feeding practices, nutrient intake and nutritional status of children aged 6-24 months in the Minasa Upa Village District of Bontoa Maros.
Methods: This study is a descriptive. Sample is all children aged 6-24 months were 30 people selected by purposive sampling. Provision of complementary feeding practices was obtained through interviews. Nutrient intake was obtained through a 2×24 hour food recall form then processed using software Nutrisurvey 2004 Nutritional status was determined using anthropometric methods. Analysis of nutritional status determination using Antrho WHO 2005.
Results: The results showed that the practice of complementary feeding as many children as 53.3%. Energy intake of children was 53.3% and 46.7% less enough. Protein intake amounted to 56.7% and 43.3% less enough. Fat intake by 10.0% and 90.0% less enough. Carbohydrate intake by 13.3% and 86.7% less enough. Intake of vitamin A was 20.0% and 80.0% less enough. Intake of iron (Fe) of 13.3% and 86.7% less enough. Intake of zinc (Zn) of 23.3% and 76.7% less enough. Nutritional status for indikator weight for age as 80.0% normal, 13.3% poor, and 6.7% less. Indicators of Lenght for ageU as 63.3% normal, 20.0% and 16.7% short very short. Indicator of weight for height as 80.0% of normal, 6.7% fat, 10.0% and 3.3% underweight.
Conclusion: Conclusion of this study are generally good giving complementary feeding practices, good nutritional status, and bad the nutrient intake.
Suggestion: recommended to health professionals and relevant agencies to provide more information for mothers who have children aged 6-12 months, the practice of complementary feeding and intake of nutrients. For further research to see besides intake derived from MP-ASI also calculate intake from breast milk.
