Abstract

Background: Some causes of increased abdominal circumference and waist circumference above normal is excessive intake of nutrients (energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate), and low physical activity.

Objective: This research study aims to determine the waist circumference (LP) and hip circumference (LP) and diet nutritionist adult men.

Methods: This study is a survey with a qualitative approach. Informants in this study is a regular informant who has worked at least 5 years. Informant selection techniques with the snowball method (snowboling). The number of meals, type of meal, meal frequency, how to eat, when to eat, appetite and diet were collected by means of in-depth interviews as well as using a tape recorder mobile phone with voice notes application. Waist circumference and hip circumference measurements collected by using a cloth tape measure. Processing and data analysis using methods of analysis conten. This research carried out with four stages emic analysis, ethics, concepts and prepositions.

Result: The results showed that the amount of food consumed by the informant is in accordance with his wishes and not according to his needs. Type of food often consumed by informants is that at every mealtime consumed food sources of energy (rice) protein sources (side dishes), the source of fat (side dishes), a source of vitamins and minerals (vegetables). Frequency of eating informant is the main food 3 times a day (staple food, side dishes, vegetables) and snacks 3 times a day (fruit). How to eat informant was eating as usual (rice, side dishes, vegetables) and do not use a special way. Informants eating habits is to eat every meal according to taste (morning, afternoon, evening) and stop if it is full. Appetite today is a good informant. Informant responses about the diet is very good, but has not been able to run and not know how to run it well. Opinions about the informant’s favorite food is eaten if available, unless the preferred food has not been consumed informants, such as food stalls (dumplings). All informants have central obesity status in the high risk category.

Suggestion: It is suggested that obesity dietician who can adjust their diets according to their needs.
