Background: One of the factors causing the high malnutrition problems in infants is low practice of breastfeeding infants should be done as soon as possible after birth until the age of 6 months, because breast milk contains many substances that are nutritious and appropriate to the needs of the child. Besides breast milk also contains anti-infective factors that protect the baby against infection. The main cause of failure is the attitude of breastfeeding mothers who do not breastfeed their babies earnest so as to have difficulty in doing so.
Objective: This study aims to describe the practice of breastfeeding in children aged 0-6 months in the Village District of Bontoa Botolempangan Maros
Methods: This research is descriptive. Samples were mothers of children aged 0-6 months in the Village District of Bontoa Botolempangan Maros many as 31 people were selected by purposive sampling. Data on breastfeeding practices were collected using interviews with the respondents (Mrs. sample) by instrument questionnaire.
Results: The results showed that the initiation of early breastfeeding practices in general less (77.4%). The frequency of breast-feeding less (61.3%). Duration of breastfeeding well (67.7%). Techniques breastfeeding less (74.2%). There is no problem in good breastfeeding practices (61.3%).
conclision: generally the practice of breast-feeding, the frequency of breast-feeding and breast-feeding tekhik still lacking. however, the duration of breast-feeding mothers are classified as good and do not have problems in the practice of breast-feeding.
Suggestion: Suggested for Maros health authorities to improve their skills and knowledge through training health workers breastfeeding counseling.
